Is head covering obligatory for Muslimahs and how can I improve my faith?

Glorious Quran's answers to our problems

As salamu alaikum,

I’ve started hijab this November. On my first day i got complimented by friends n when my parents came back from hajj mom didnt like it where my father supported me.then many of my family member didnt like it n said it is even not required in islam..okay i kno there some scholars who say that it’s no where in Quran..but then again i say what about hadith?in response they say if i tell u something now ull exaggerate it, fabricate or say somthg less n hadith has been collected after hundreds of year after rasullah’s (saw)..to this thg i paid no attention but then that kept on circulating in my mind..i feel like taking off my hijab even though i dont want to.then again i get this strong feeling to take it off.and also im having too much hair fall normally have thin hair from the beginning but after wearing hijab it thinned even more.per day more than 20 strands of hair falls down if I comb and in regular basis more 3 4 strands fall..and when I do shampoo..hair falls even more.

I went to some sites where some girls wrote their hair started falling n hair line exceeding after wearing hijab that scared me,although i never thought of taking off my hijab.then  browing n browsing I came to sites that said… hair needs oxygen sunlight..ear gets suffocated n ALLAH(SWT) wont order that will suffocate us ALLAH only order to veil bosom and jilbab is a overcoat that veils the bosom not something that cover hair and we weren’t order to draw khimar on our head etc..after that it got into my mind although I did stick to hijab…plz tell me what should I do?i do want to stick to my hijab n still want the hair fall to stop …did any sister here  face problem of hair fall n hair line exceeding after hijab??

recently i find it difficult to pray, concentrate.there is no khushu..cant concentrate..after prayer i normally fall in sajud n talk to ALLAH(SWT)..but now i find no interest even don’t feel like reciting the Quran:(..  ive always noticed that after my menstruation I feel no interest on coming closer to Allah. why is that?

How can I increase my fear and love for ALLAH? increase love for rasul (pbuh)?

Plus im having some problems with my belief after reading an article. i normally never knew what is difference between wahabi sunni shia salafi etc etc..i come from a sunni family..that website accuse dr zakir naik as salafi whom I really respect because dr naik  said ALLah by his knowledge is close to us and has two hand n eyes..but what kind n how HE looks dr naik don’t kno..such criticism n discussion manipulated my belief  n made me confuse. i go to sites to be better Muslim to know better n all but sometimes end up getting confused…

I feel disconnected from Allah n when I pray I just recite verses .i do not enjoy my prayer, as muslims should enjoy their salah..sometimes salah seems to b a burden to me

What do I do about all these?

Emma.

  1. Assalamu allykum my sister:
its normal for some people to look down at you when you change.
As for " hair need oxgen",you can remove your hijab at home when there is mahram(dont remove hijab, when your male cousins, those you can marry that is).
Let me ask you a question why do we wear hijab or khimar?? As for me,
I wear hijab to protect myself.
When i wear hijab am respected.
Am still expriencing hairfall but all i want is to please Allah...i realy feel proud when i were khimar...i have many colleagues who dont were hijab... So even try to dicourage me but i dont listen.
Stick to your hijab, and dont listen to what others say.
About your iman, when you are in ur periods, you can listen to qur'an...you can also do tasbih something of that nature...
I also have like that problems.
    Hope i helped

  2. Assalamu allykum my sister:
its normal for some people to look down at you when you change.
To me, head covering is compulsory. My uncle once told me,the hair is dead why cover it?i told him, i like it that way. You know with time mum will understand when she sees how overprotective you are of hijab.some of the people i know and those i dont know feel even shy to talk against my hijab because i feel free with it,someone even said aint you feeling hot?, i used to say no am used to it...my islamic teacher told me once when i and my siblings complained about my teachers in school. if they say its hot dont wear hijab,say-"an-naru jahannam a'hhar"(i.e hellfire is more hot), he also told us dont open your hair wa lau(even if ) its the presdent. Uptill now i used to follow this...a teacher's rank is not upto the president,as such i can remember a christain teacher told me "open your hair so we can see weather you plait it or i shall beat" you know what i stood my ground at the end i wasnt beaten.
I can also remember when i was writting national secondary school certificate.
The invegelator(or surpervisor) told i and my sister to remove our hijab to show weather we wearing earpiece(to verify malpractice in exam hall) we werent wearing it,but we refused to remove the hijab...so he took our exam numbers which we willing gave because we were innocent then they called two girls to check, they said no earpiece. You know what they did after the exams.the guy told my teachers and princpal that we were cheating using a textbook(which was not even there)
my dad was even there after telling my dad...he didnt even talk because the princpal himself didnt belief the man.
What i mean by this stories is no matter the situation stick with your hijab my dearest sister, they would always be people females or male who want you to remove your vail and put you in problems just to make you do what they say.
For who are you wearing hijab?
Allah is always watching over us!
As for " hair need oxgen",you can remove your hijab at home when there is mahram(dont remove hijab, when those you can marry are there).

  3. Assalamualaikum wa Rahmatullah sister emma,

Beware of the sources of your knowledge. The internet is full of crap and evil, and the good knowledge is just like a white hair among the black hair on a youth's head.

Never read anything without knowing its authenticity. Read the websites that have the teachings of the scholars of Ahlus Sunnah, such as Shaikh bin Baaz, ibn Uthaimeen, al Albani, Salih al Fawzaan, Abdul Muhsin al Abbad, Waseeullah Abbas, Abdul Azeez aal ash Shaikh, Rahimahumullah / Hafidhahumullaah, and their likes. This does not mean that those lower in ilm are not to be approached, but until you are sure that you are getting the correct knowledge as per the understanding of the pious predessessors - the salaf as saliheen, do not rely upon it and do not even read it, in order to avoid confusion and loss of faith. There are people who work only to misguide people over the internet, so you should beware.

You can also read the books and the fataawaa of the classical scholars such as Imam ibn Taymiyyah, ibn Rajab, ibn Hajar al Athqalani and their likes (May Alah Have Mercy on them all)

People will also show you logic and say this is why it is halaal or this is why it is haraam. But remember that logic can never precede the shar'i daleel. Ali bin Abi Talib Radiyallahu Anhu said that if deen was based on opinion, then one would wipe the underside of the khuff (socks) insead of the upper side, while Allah's Messenger Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam wiped the upper side.

This hadith is weak (Da'eef) but the matter is worth consideration, because it is established in Sahih Ahadeeth that Rasool Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam did wadhu by wiping OVER his socks.

Also beware of the rejecets of Hadith. They say it came later and they degrade the Ulama. It is false, they are ignorant. They should read how the muhadditheen spent their lives in order to ensure hadith was preserved.

Hadith is an inegral part of the deen. It is a primary source of knowledge and Islamc rulings. Shaikh ibn Uthaimeen: The Sources of Islamic Knowledge are of two types Primary Sources & Secondary Sources.
    PRIMARY SOURCES are:
    (1) al-Quran (the Book of Allah)
    (2) as-Sunnah (the teachings of Prophet Muhammad saws)
And among the SECONDARY SOURCES are:
(1)al-Ijmaa (Consensus of the Muslim Scholars)
(2)al-Qiyaas (Analogy or Comparison based upon the text of Quran & Sunnah)
(3)Amalu ahlul Madeenah (Practices of the People of Madinah)

Concerning covering the hair, the scholars agree that the Aayah of the Quran that mentions hijab actually means that all the body be covered.

    Allah Said:

    24:31
And tell the believing women to reduce [some] of their vision and guard their private parts and not expose their adornment except that which [necessarily] appears thereof and to wrap [a portion of] their headcovers over their chests and not expose their adornment except to their husbands, their fathers, their husbands' fathers, their sons, their husbands' sons, their brothers, their brothers' sons, their sisters' sons, their women, that which their right hands possess, or those male attendants having no physical desire, or children who are not yet aware of the private aspects of women. And let them not stamp their feet to make known what they conceal of their adornment. And turn to Allah in repentance, all of you, O believers, that you might succeed.

One should note that Allah mentions the headcover in this Aayah.

    Shaikh ibn Uthaimeen Rahimahullah said:

"The Islamic hijab is for the women to cover everything that is forbidden for her to expose. That is, she covers everything that she must cover.

"The first of those bodily parts that she must cover is her face. It is the source of temptation and the source of people desiring her. Therefore, the woman must cover her face in front of those men that are not Mahram (i.e. father, huband, etc.).

"As for those who claim that Islamic hijab is to cover the head, shoulders, back, feet, shin and forearms while allowing her to uncover her face and hands, this is a very amazing claim. This is because it is well-known that the source of temptation and looking is the face. How can one say that the Shariah does no allow the exposure of the foot of the woman while it allows her to uncover her face?

"It is not possible that there could be in the Esteemed, Wise and Noble Shariah a contradiction. Yet everyone knows that the temptation from uncovering the face is much greater than the temptation that results from the uncovering of the feet. Everyone also knows that the most sought after aspect of the woman for men is the face. If you told a prospective groom that a woman’s face is ugly but her feet are beautiful, he would not propose to such a woman.

"However, if you told him that her face was beautiful but her hands, palms, or shins were less than beautiful, he would still propose to her. From this one can conclude that the face is the first thing that must be covered.

"There are also evidences from the Book of Allah (SWT) and the Sunnah of our Prophet (SAW). There are also statements from the Companions, the leading Imams and the great scholars of Islam that indicate that it is obligatory for the woman to cover all of her body in the presence of non-Mahram men. This obviously indicates that it is obligatory upon the woman to cover her face in front of such men."

    (End quote)

    Imam ibn Taymiyyah said:

“… It seems that the view of Ahmad is that every part of her is ‘awrah, even her nails, and this is also the view of Maalik.” (Majmoo’ al-Fataawa, 22/110).

However, some other scholars like Shaikh Albani say that the face and the hands can be revealed.

Concernig the fear of Allah, Imam ibn Qayyim said:

The heart in its journey towards Allah, subhanahu wa ta ' ala, is like a bird whose head is love , and hope and fear are its two wings. When the head and the two wings are sound and healthy the flight of the bird is good, but when the head is cut off , it immediately dies , and when either or both wings are deficient , the bird cannot properly fly and may become victim of any hunter or snare. The righteous predecessors preferred to strengthen the wing of fear during good times when heedlessness is feared , and to strengthen the wing of hope at times of calamity and when near death .

You can improve His Fear by gaining more knowledge about Him. Because, Imam Ahmad said:

من كان بالله اعرف كان منه اخوف
Whoever knows Allah the most, fears Him the most

Love of His Rasool Sallallau Alaihi Wasallam can be improved by following in his footsteps, obeying him without questioning why, following his sunnah to the extent possible.

This way, improve your taqwa also.

I hope this has come to some help and you have got some idea about where you should go.

May Allah give us the most correct knowlege
    Aameen

    • I cant say from your post that you think niqab is obligatory but you should not confuse the sister more by providing quotes that say niqaab is obligatory. While its true that there are scholars who believe niqab is mandatory, there are also scholars who say there is no hijab in Islam. What you have left out from your answer is that the majority of scholars believe that hijab is obligatory and niqab is optional.
I dont mean to offend but hijab is a controversial subject and you really shouldnt bring niqab into it as well. Salaam.

      • There are scholars who say Niqab is obligatory, such as Shaikh ibn Uthaimeen as I mentioned above. I also mentioned that Shaikh Albani says niqab is not mandatory. A person may follow what she finds more correct. I know women who wear niqab wherever they go, some who wear niqab in some environments and some who do not wear niqab at all. But no sound scholar would say that hijab itself is not mandatory. Wallahu A'lam.

        • Niqab is Arab culture and not obligatory in Islam. All the four madham never said niqab is fard. Feet doesnt need to be covered either.

          Sister in question,
Hijab is beautiful and it permotes modesty. Hijab is fard. Hijab does not thin hair, in fact it protects and prevents split ends too. And when you put hijab just dont tie your hair too tight. Tie very loosly. pls see your family doctor regarding your hair loss and losing 20 strands hair is not considered hair loss. In a day on average we loose more than 20 strands a day. Eat well, think well and keep up with the hijab- ensure the drape of your hijab covers the shape of your front parts and your tighs are covered with loose garment. In Shaa Allah, within time your family will become easy on you and the most important thing is your father is supporting you, whereas me I had no support at.all from family when i first started practise hijab

    • I think that if you told a man the woman had s beautiful face but a terrible body he would not propose, the face is not a sexual desire object. Also, the Quran first and foremost commands men to lower their gaze, and if the face was supposed to be covered it would be in that verse. I don't know why male scholar draw their own conclusions based on their desires and opinions

  4. Wa'alaykumsalam Emma,

There are many people who preaches Islam with little/no knowledge at all. They are those people who might not have read the Qur'an and they are those who reject the hadith in whole or partially. As you know, both the Quran and Hadith are the basis of Islam. To understand the Quran, we must refer to the tafsir and we must not interpret the Qur'an according to our understanding and desires because we may/may not be right, therefore, we must accept the Prophet's interpretations etc. Allah has repeatedly ordered us to ' obey ' His messenger and that His messenger is the best example mankind should follow. Obidiance to the prophet, is done by following his commands and his life style to attain the right path and so we do that by accepting the hadith.

“He who obeys the Messenger has indeed obeyed Allaah . . .” [al-Nisaa’ 4:80]

“O you who believe! Obey Allaah and obey the Messenger . . .” [al-Nisaa’ 4:59]

“. . . And let those who oppose the Messenger’s commandment beware, lest some fitnah (trial, affliction, etc.) befall them or a painful torment be inflicted on them.” [al-Nur 24:63]

“. . . (And) if you differ in anything amongst yourselves, refer it to Allaah and His Messenger . . .” [al-Nisaa’ 4:59]

Al-Tirmidhi reported from Abu Raafi’ and others that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “I do not want to see any one of you reclining on his couch and, when he hears of my instructions or prohibitions, saying ‘I don’t accept it; we didn’t find any such thing in the Book of Allaah.’”

Prohet said : “Would any of you think, reclining on his couch, that Allaah would only describe what is forbidden in the Qur’aan? I tell you, by Allaah, that I have warned and commanded and prohibited things that are as important as what is in the Qur’aan, if not more so.”

Imam Al-Shaafi’i, may Allaah have mercy on him, said: “I do not know of anyone among the Sahaabah and Taabi’een who narrated a report from the Messenger of Allaah (peace be upon him) without accepting it, adhering to it and affirming that this was sunnah. Those who came after the Taabi’een, and those whom we met did likewise: they all accepted the reports and took them to be sunnah, praising those who followed them and criticizing those who went against them. Whoever deviated from this path would be regarded by us as having deviated from the way of the Companions of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and the scholars who followed them, and would be considered as one of the ignorant.

Thus it must be concluded that both the Quran and Hadith has to be followed to be on the right path.

Regarding Hijab, I believe you are reffering to ' head scarf ' ( Khimar ). If yes, then yes it is obligatory for the women to observe the head scarves. There is not an iota of doubt regarding its obligatory except those who are ignorant and liars ( Hadith rejectors). Beware of those people sister.

"And tell the believing women to lower their gaze and be modest,...and to draw their veils over their bosoms..." (24:31) "

The word used in the Qur'an for ' veil' is khumur ( covering ), rooted from Khimar which means head covering by itself. It is a long cloth covering, which starts from the head till the waist. Just google, Khimar or veil to know its meaning with picture.

Prophet said: 'O Asma’! When a girl reaches the menstrual age, it is not proper that anything should remain exposed except this and this. He pointed to the face and hands." [Abu Dawud]

Narrated Aisha, Ummul Mu'minin: The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: Allah does not accept the prayer of a woman who has reached puberty unless she wears a veil" ( Abu Dawood )

    Therefore, Head scarf is obligatory.

Just like in Christian Bible, corithians, " It is disgraceful for a women to uncover her head", "For if a woman will not cover her head , she should cut off her hair".

But unfortunately many modern muslimah, wore the head scarf along with tight tops and jeans, Some woman wore skirt with headscarf on, some arranged their hair like the hump of camel and then head scarf, some wore head scarf covering only half head etc some times with high heels. All these unIslamic modern clothing destroys the purpose of hijab which is observed for modesty, privacy and morality.

Prophet said: "Women who are clothed but yet naked , turning their heads sideways this way and that like the humps of the camel, shall never enter Paradise nor even smell its fragrance."

"And let them not stamp their feet to make known what they conceal of their adornment." (24:31)

Muslimah must observe hijab ( khimar, jilbab, niqab etc ) in front of non mahrams. Lose clothing basically. It is their duty to obey Allah and His messenger. Wearing hijab is done to respect themselves, protect from evil eyes and reduce temptations insha'Allah.

    • Brother Ali, even I wanted to mention the Hadith of Asma Radiyallahu Anha from Abu Dawood. But it is a weak (Da'eef) Hadith.

    • Regarding hairfall, I highly doubt that its because of hijab. People can be suspicious and say anything, just like recently, someone came up with an opinion that hijab causes deficiency in vitamin D level etc. There are many anti muslim who wants our muslim sister to come out without the hijab and so they blog about the ' disadvantage ' of hijab etc. This is totally false.

It is obvious that women never wear -HIJAB made from rubber- 24/7, therefore talks about less oxygen, less sunlight, less vitamin D levels, suffocate the ears etc should be ignored. Its not even a cause, just absurdities.

Hijab is normally worn when in public and infront of non mahram and not 24/7. They do not need to be veiled the whole day. They may wish to wear whatever they wish when alone at home or room etc, even a normal 5-10 minutes trip to the balcony or the roof top can help solve the above problems. Therefore, these shouldn't persuade you to take off your hijab.

Hairfall has many causes with/without hijab. Just recently there was a post about hairfall, and there were valuable advises there, try to find it. I believe that it maybe due to wearing hijab very tight or possibly dry hair. You must neither wash nor shampoo your hair daily. 3 times a week is enough. Hair needs to be let alone for the natural oil to climb up to its end. Try using hot oil treatement with olive or coconut oil. Take more vitamin C. Do not be over stressed.

Beware of anti-islamic websites. They create doubts and confusion by taking Quranic verses or etc out of context. Their arguements can easily be refuted with proper Islamic knowledge. Do not visit pro christian or pro shia websites, because even mere reading can shake the eman of a weak person. But those arguements can be refuted and crushed by the knowledgeable persons. Therefore, first strudy Islam from its authentic sources whether online or offline. Make sure with us or other muslims about the authenticity insha'Allah.

    • Assalamu alaikum,

this was indeed a wonderful reply from you side. I completely agree to you. Their are many online sites claiming to be Islamic but actually they divert people and give wrong information about our religion. One should not completely rely on internet when looking for a Islamic answer.

Actually I got concerned reading few lines which scared me off a little :

Narrated Aisha, Ummul Mu'minin: The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: Allah does not accept the prayer of a woman who has reached puberty unless she wears a veil" ( Abu Dawood )

I am myself a hijabi and wear a full body covering abaya with a scarf. But the above lines did scared me for my sisters - all elder to me who are non hijabi. How can I convince them to start wearing it. Although I have tried lot but each time I think I am not trying harder enough or may be my way of saying is not correct.
One of my sister said that I try and force this on them and till the time it will come directly from their heart they wont start it. I have tried giving them all valid reasons from Quran and Hadith but in vain.

Can you suggest me some good way to convince them, it really scares me and I want all of them to be on the path of Islam.

      JazakAllah

      • Wa'alaykumsalam,

It is a fact that no one can force or pressure others to wear the hijab. Doing so regularly might annoy them and sometimes make them dislike hijab etc, therefore, once you've advised them, your job is done and its upto them to wear it or not. Their actions are theirs and no blame falls on you or anyone whatsoever, even if you feel you didn't convince them better, "Whosoever goeth right, it is only for (the good of) his own soul that he goeth right, and whosoever erreth, erreth only to its hurt. No laden soul can bear another's load, We never punish until we have sent a messenger". (17:15)

Many sisters knows the importance of hijab in Islam, but they maybe unwilling to wear it due to the place they live in where Islamphobia/discrimination is high. But this should not be an excuse rather they should migrate to a muslim community or country or etc, as Allah said, "Verily! As for those whom the Angels have taken (in death) while they are wronging themselves (as they stayed among the disbelievers even though emigration was obligatory to them), they (angels) asked them,"In what condition were you?". They replied,"We were weak and oppressed on earth". The Angels asked, "Was not the earth of Allah spacious enough for you to migrate therein?"Such person will find their abode in Hell - what an evil destination!.." ( An-Nisa ) some other women might believe that it is not obligatory in Islam, some say its not written in the Quran etc but they are wrong and unaware, some of them deny sunnah of Prophet etc, whereas Allah clearly told us to obey and follow His messenger too, therefore, its like they chose to accept only partial Quran, "..So do you believe in part of the Scripture and disbelieve in part? Then what is the recompense for those who do that among you except disgrace in worldly life; and on the Day of Resurrection they will be sent back to the severest of punishment. And Allah is not unaware of what you do" ( Al Baqarah ). Like one of your friend said that when the time is right/ when their heart says it, then only they would wear hijab. This time might never come, what if their death date is today or tomorrow etc, therefore they have to initiate to seek guidance by learning Islam and practising its teachings. “Truly, Allah does not change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves.” (Quran 13:11). Therefore, no matter what they say, they will be at fault because only true believers will understand what Islam says about hijab and will follow it. "The only statement of the [true] believers when they arecalled to Allah and His Messenger to judge between them is that they say, "We hear and we obey." And those are the successful. ( An Nur )

They should first understand what is the importance of hijab ? Why should it be worn ? What does it signifies ? How does it protect us ? What are its benefits Etc etc, then only they may understand. Hijab basically brings about countless benefits and wards off a great deal of harm and evil. It is to protect themselves from evil eyes, to protect their honor, chastity, dignity etc. In Islam women has a high position, in a hadith it is said that paradise lies under the feet of our mother but this sayings are only for the pious muslimahs and not those who ignore Allah's commands. It is to protect them from pollution and the danger of UV rays etc They must be known as respectable women. Muslimah must hide their beauty from stranger and show them only to their husband. They must not advertise their body/beauty. Their beauty must only be for their husband and not shared among the public. Allah ordered them to go behind a screen (hijab) when talking to stranger, then why they do not take heed ? Only Allah knows.

Its wonderful to learn of your eagerness to bring our muslim sisters to the right path masha'Allah. Obviously believers must wish good for other believers. We can just advise them and nothing more.

"Let there among you be a group that summon to all that is beneficial commands what is proper and forbids what is improper; they are the ones who will prosper." (3:104)

The Prophet said, “The one who points to the good has the reward of the one acting upon it.” (Sahih Muslim)

masha'Allah that you doing good and being rewarded. Therfore, once you've spoken, you should leave it alone insha'Allah.

" When women die, they are covered from head to toe, so let not your death day be the first day you wear hijab "

        • JazakAllah for replying to my concern.

I try to remind them after long period of time so that they may not feel I m just sitting on their head. That is funny but once I asked them if their husband ask them to wear hijab will they agree , to which they readily agreed . But then I said why then are you not obeying what Allah Subhan wa ta'ala had asked you to do. ( No response and I am tagged an extremist now may be coz I try to put an Islamic understanding to each matter. this does'nt bother me anyways)
The problem with them is they know abut Hijab its importance and relevance. they support me and never are negative about me wearing it but when it comes to them they are reluctant in accepting it.

I just can make Dua that their heat changes for better, not only my sisters but every muslim women that we may always follow the rite path of Islam. Insha Allah.

      • Assalamualaikum sister trapped
i feel the same. I have a preteen daughter but since i live in a polytheist, somewhat fashionable country i always worried for my kids. I didnt want her to hate hijab so i never pushed he so i thought of a plan and i decided to take her with me to the hijab boutique. I let her go through the catlog of various patterns for me and she watched with great interest the little hijab accessories. U wont believe this, she told me right there that she also wanted to wear it and i quickly placed an order for one and let let r pick a ready to wear from the rack. When we walked out of the car we walked out as 1 hijabi and 1 non hijabi but alhamdolillah we walked back as 2 hijabis. Her father was so pleased. Mayb this trick could work with u.
it is also important to instill fear in ur loved ones' hearts. I make my daughter watch some powerful speeches about the day of judgment and how the steadfast will b rewarded. It strengthened her iman. She still has issues being accepted as a hijabi in school but she is stronger than me. Im a proud muslim mother.

    • Assalam.

I should ask you about this particular hadith you have mentioned:
Narrated Aisha, Ummul Mu'minin: The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: Allah does not accept the prayer of a woman who has reached puberty unless she wears a veil" ( Abu Dawood ).
At one point of my adult life (for 10 years) I was very distressed, oppressed/abused emotionally and mentally. When I started praying to Almighty Allah, He helped me out of that horrible state/situation, Alhamdullilah. Please, note that I was not veiled Muslima at that time, I was not wearing a Hijab.
Now since Almighty Allah (SWT) answered all my prayers/duas (Alhamdullilah), how should I believe in this hadith .
      Thank you in advance

      • Wa Alaikum as Salam,

Allah is ar Rahmaan, which means that He Is The Most Merciful to all His creation. If the disbelievers live on Earth, they live because of His Mercy. If He was not Merciful to them, they would not have been given a drop of water because of the serious sin of shirk and kufr.

Allah is ar Raheem to His believing servants, which favors them over all His creation and due to which, He Forgives all their sins and grants them paradise.

So there is no difficulty at all in understanding this hadith, whatsoever. If He helped you, that was His Mercy, His Wisdom. Acceptance of 'Amal is a different matter altogether.

  5. I have very fine hair, and when I was first starting to wear hijab, I noticed that there was a tendency for it to break more readily. I looked at various factors, and felt that it was probably due to wearing too tight a style. Now, I wear a looser style and rather than tying my hair back really tightly underneath it, I wear it in a loose ponytail or bun under a cotton underscarf.

People may try to use this as a reason not to wear hijab, but it's a problem that a lot of non-Muslim women experience too, due to tight hairstyles (the "Croyden facelift" comes to mind) and heavy hair extensions. I think the medical term for this is "traction alopecia", as it is caused by tension on the hair damaging the root. It's totally reversible so long as you take steps to avoid ongoing damage.

I would suggest trying loose styles, washing your hair 3 times per week to allow natural oils to replenish, using a hair mask or intensive conditioner once per week, and trying to avoid dyes and synthetic hair products. There's no need to stop wearing hijab, in fact, wearing it helps protect your hair from atmospheric toxins, the bleaching effect of sunlight, and feeling the need to have ornate hairstyles that cause damage to your hair.

I hope you will feel able to continue to wear hijab; it is a very important step to take, and one that is requested of us by Allah. Whenever you feel your commitment wavering, remember that there are sisters in the world who would love to wear hijab but cannot at this time for fear of persecution and discrimination.

  6. As far as I know Dr Zakir Naik is not a Salafi. Anyway, when he says Allah has two hands and eyes, he is referring to the fact that in the Quran Allah uses the terms hands and eyes in a metaphorical way to show us his power and majesty. I would advice you not to go to internet discussions about things like jannah, hereafter, jinns etc. These are things about which we have no knowledge of other than the descriptions in the Quran. Discussions about these almost always have ridiculous arguments and end with no resolution.

  7. Salaams All

I wear hijab. My sister who doesn't, advised me that there are I think 8 points of to the hijab. In summary, loose and modest clothing should be worn and head covered. Also steer clear of the vulgar animal print.
It is increasingly difficult for women to observe these practise but only if we make it so. My sister also told me of when the Prophet Muhammad SAW told the Sahaba that the reward for Muslims will be 50 times greater in the end times than it would be for them because of how difficult life would become for those who believe.
Ignore all those who try to put you off. One woman was asked if she was hot in her hijab and she replied yes, but it will be far hotter in hell.
