Islamic marriage advice and family advice

Can I marry my wife again?

happy muslim couple

As Salamu Alaykum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh.

Dear brothers and sisters, I got married 6 months ago in my native country in which mosques are only at principals cities so we, my wife and I decided to get married trying to follow the Sunnah, we did it in a small sister’s apartment and I still think it was amazing have done it that way however my wife’s parents are not still aware of our marriage since we both thought that they not being Muslims would not understand our decision. At that moment I was living with my mother and my wife went to my country to visit me, then we got married. Now we are together in her country in which we met each other when we weren’t Muslims a few years ago. We have been through a lot of couple issues and now we’re expecting a baby Alhamdulillah and she’s moving with me really soon. I’d like to know if we can get married again in the local mosque, I know it would be easier to ask there to the iman, I just want personal opinions based on experiences, I’d really like to have a wedding with her parents and our Muslims friends. I’ve committed a lot of mistakes and sins and I deeply think this may be a chance for me to start over, now I have started to appreciate all the things my wife has done for me, she have passed through a lot of bad situations because of me and I feel really guilty, now I just want to make her happy for the rest of our life together since she is still giving me the chance to do so.

Thanks in advance, I do really appreciate any advice.

Allah knows best.

  1. it will be best going to a masjid and asking the imam.

  2. Salam,

I don't see a problem with you holding another wedding and vows. You're supposed to have a public marriage so that her family and yours knows that you are married. Your case is a little different in that her family is not Muslim and I can see them not wanting her to be Muslim or marrying a Muslim. So holding this public wedding is a great idea and more people will know that you're married.
