Islamic marriage advice and family advice

In order to pray, do I have to wash everything that has semen on it?

Hi my bothers and sisters,

I am a 28 years old male and "Sunni Muslim". I am in serious confusion about some issues. Please read below.

I masturbate on a regular basis. When I masturbate in my bed, after that I touch my pillow, books, wallet, mobile, door handle, mattress, room wall etc. with hands (with liquid semen). Even semen dropped so many times in my cloths, duvet etc. Even I touched many things with hands (after semen dried on the hand, without washing hands).

The clothes, which have semen on it (the semen is dried days ago), has No visible signs/stains. So, I cannot know exactly which spots in the cloths have semen. Do I have to wash these clothes before praying?

Some clothes have some visible signs or stains in some spots, and other spots in those clothes may have semen or not. In order to pray, do I have to wash it?

What about door handles, wallet, water bottles, mobile, laptop, room windows etc. that I touched when semen (dry/wet) was in my hands? The walls, door handles etc. doesn't show any visible sign (or no distinguishable signs due to semen), (it's true that I touched them with semen days ago). Do I have to wash these things?

If any object (pillow, bed cover, wall etc.) is touched, with my dried semen or wet semen, and after some time there is no specific marks (or I cannot recognize any), do I have to wash them? And, on them if I find any Mark (due to semen dried days ago), do I have to wash those objects? (Let's say, do I have to wash my mobile?)

I am very confused. In order to pray, what do I have to do?

For example: Yesterday I masturbated and didn't wash my hand. And after some time the hand became completely dry (I did NOT wash the hand, and there are dried semens and madhiy which are Not visible in the eye). If I touch any clean cloth with this hand, does the cloth get impure? And if I touch any object (laptop, mobile, door handle etc.), do I have to wash them?

Please reply brothers and sisters. Thanks for reading. I need a solution please.. ..

In shaa Allah this is from a scholar and another person who gave hadith. In shaa Allah it will help you.
Can you still pray after you masturbate? Or do you need to take a shower?

If the masturbation involves ejaculation (whether you are male or female), then performing ghusl becomes obligatory. You cannot pray until you perform ghusl.

But if there is no ejaculation, then a person can pray without performing ghusl.

Follow-up question: for the females (yes there are females who masturbate), does reaching climax or orgasm the same as ejaculating? Like, if one reaching climax, but no ejaculation, does she has to perform ghusl afterwards? Thank you.

Thank you for your question. According to the Qatari Fatwa Authority, orgasm itself does not necessitate ghusl if no manī is ejaculated by the man or woman. For more on a woman’s manī please see this previous answer.

There is, however, something called retrograde ejaculation, where the ejaculation takes place but does not come out immediately. For example if an hour or more later the person urinates and finds some ejaculate in their urine, then the ejaculation has taken place. In such a case, I believe that ghusl is necessary even though no ejaculation took place during the orgasm.

Source on ghusl not being necessary if a woman orgasms without ejaculation during masturbation.

All praise to Allah Swt and blessings on Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him His family and companions.

Ali r.a narrated: "I asked the Prophet peace be upon him about Al-Madhi. He said: "For Al-Madhi is Wudu, and for AI-Mani is Ghusl."(Tirmidhi on Book of Purification).,,and madhi is uretheral fluid and mani is Semen.

If you have not observed Semen,,In this case you dont need to perform Ghusl but wudhu would be obligatory for prayers.

Aishah r.anarrated: "The Prophet peace be upon him was asked about a man who finds wetness and he does not remember having a wet dream. So he said: 'He is to perform Ghusl. And (he was asked) about a man who had a wet dream but does not find any wetness, so he said: 'No Ghusl is required of him.' Umm Salamah said: 'O Messenger of Allah! Is the woman required to perform Ghusl if she sees that?' He replied: 'Yes. Indeed women are the partners of men.'"(Tirmizi)

  3. As salaamu alaikum. The person who has posted the inquiry may actually need more lessons on basic cleanliness and housekeeping in addition to investing some time in learning the basics of Islamic principles of cleanliness and personal hygiene. I must admit that I do have some doubts as to the authenticity of the inquiry since most adults do not want others to know they are not clean, do not wash and/or clean up behind themselves. The behavior may indicate why the writer may have to resort to masturbation. People with nasty personal habits often find it difficult to establish relationships with the opposite sex.

    • as-salaamu 'alaikum and thank you "RosesRoses" - I wanted to say something similar, including the filthy and sinful secret habit, but didn't know how to put it gently/kindly, as you have done quite eloquently 🙂

      Thank you.

And I hope if this is a genuine inquiry, that brother kabir will heed the advice, especially concerning cleanliness and the haraam secret habit. It's also pretty concerning that one doesn't know this is a filthy and sinful habit - it says much about the condition of the heart.

Brother kabir, I would also advise, when you stand up to pray in front of our creator, Allah subhanahu wa-ta'ala, that you do so with peace and tranquility in the heart, and take time when praying, heeding what you recite so that it enters the heart.

as-salaat is much like meditation, it should be slow, with peace and calmness, not a physical exercise or sports.

      Peace.

  4. Wash your hands! Wash your clothes, repeatedly with hot hot soapy disinfectant water! Wash everything!

Do you wash your hands after using toilet? Its time u start adopting cleanliness habits because what i describe is filth.

No woman wants a filthy man. In fact, wash before and after, every time, even if no ejeculation happens.

    We cant be friends anymore.
