We want to move abroad after marriage

Passport immigration stamp

Will our marriage be recognised for immigration purposes?

I am a a Filipina Christian woman having a relationship with a Saudi man for almost 4 years. We are going to marry here in the Philippines after a month  Inshaallah to make everything halal under Islamic rites. I respect Islam so much and appreciate everything about it after I lived and worked for sometime in Saudi Arabia.

The only problem is that he is only 33 and he is not allowed to marry a non saudi like me until he is 35. He was married before to a saudi for a year but they divorced already because he was just forced to marry her and he did not like at all. They have  legal papers to prove this and they do not have any children.

He is so happy and in love with me  that he follow me and is willing to spent his life with me. In return I want to make him happy and wholeheartedly and in my own free will to convert in Islam inshaallah for our future and for the sake of our children.

Next year I will migrate to Australia and permanently settle there, my soon to be husband will be my dependent on my permanent visa application. Will the Australian embassy honour our marriage certificate done under Islamic rites in the Philippines?

  1. iamsarah,

I was not sure I understood correctly when you said, "The only problem is that he is only 33 and he is not allowed to marry a non saudi like me until he is 35."

Who or what is setting the age limit at 35? I do not understand.

    Salam

It sounds to me like your prospective husband is interested in your visa. I am sorry if you are not interested in hearing this, but based solely on what you have written, something sounds suspicious about this.

You really need to ask the government of his country and your country regarding the laws because they would be able to give you accurate and up-to-date information.

    All the best to you.

  3. Well if you want to go back to Saudi arabia, your husband could get into trouble for marrying you at 33. You have been in relationship for 4 years why not wait 2 more years to make relationship legal by marrying.

Yes it will be honored by the Australian embassy as long as it is legally solemnized and registered in the Philippines.
