have I done zina?
Hadith about Zina
I was most islamic in my higher secondary level because of my good muslim friends and their company, but then we passed out and I got admission in engineering, where I had no good muslim company.
I approached a Muslim girl from our class in my first year. We got into a relationship which lasted two years, and we had almost every physical relation except intercourse. Also I had another girlfriend last year, with whom I was cheating on the first one. I did the same with her too.
I left that life behind me and repented, and it's almost 10 months now. But I don't feel the same spiritually like I did before. My prayers are not answered. I don't sincerely pray namaz although I want to, because I get distracted.
Have I done zina? Am I a zani? Is all this because a zani's prayers are never answered? How should I repent?

Dear Brother,
You Committed grave mistakes, no doubt about it but what matters is that your realization of the same and your sincere repentance.
Please offer two rakat prayer immediately and seek forgiveness from Allah (swt) and continue seeking his forgiveness till your death, simultaneously, improve yourself Islamically and keep reminding yourself about the mercy of the almighty-
"O son of Adam, as long as you call upon Me and put your hope in Me, I have forgiven you for what you have done and I do not mind. O son of Adam, if your sins were to reach the clouds of the sky and then you would seek My forgiveness, I would forgive you. O son of Adam, if you were to come to Me with sins that are close to filling the earth and then you would meet Me without ascribing any partners with Me, I would certainly bring to you forgiveness close to filling it."
The negative thoughts you are having like you dont same spritiual, that your prayers are not answered are from Satan and out of your guilt. There is no point in wasting time about thinking this all as it will lead you nowhere. Better you must try to improve yourself as Muslim - learn more about Islam, offer you salah more sincerely and ask for almighty's forgiveness as much as you can.
Keep yourself busy so that you can move on but still whenever you get a negative thought, remind yourself of Allah (swt) and his mercy.
Serve your parents to your best, be good to your family members and people in general, do some charity work (if possible) and submit yourself to Allah (swt) and leave everything on him.
Insha-allah, with time, you will be out of it and remember, no sin is greater than mercy/forgiveness of Allah (swt)

Al-Karim The Generous He who repeats this Name many times at bedtime will have esteem in this world (and the Hereafter among the learned and righteous people
See these Quranic verses,
“And those who when they commit an indecency or do injustice to their souls remember Allah and ask forgiveness for their faults — and who forgives the faults but Allah, and (who) do not knowingly persist in what they have done. (As for) these — their reward is forgiveness from their Lord, and gardens beneath which rivers flow, to abide in them, and excellent is the reward of the labourers.”
(Surah Âli- ‘Imran 3:135-136)
And others have confessed their faults, they have mingled a good deed and an evil one; may be Allah will turn to them (mercifully); surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. Take alms out of their property, you would cleanse them and purify them thereby, and pray for them; surely your prayer is a relief to them; and Allah is Hearing, Knowing. Do they not know that Allah accepts repentance from His servants and takes the alms, and that Allah is the Oft-returning (to mercy), the Merciful? Surah at-Tawba 9:102-104
And the two persons (man and woman) among you who commit illegal sexual intercourse, punish them both. And if they repent (promise Allah that they will never repeat, i.e. commit illegal sexual intercourse and other similar sins) and do righteous good deeds, leave them alone. Surely, Allah is Ever the One Who accepts REPENTANCE, (and He is) Most Merciful.
Surah Nisa
But whosoever repents after his crime and does righteous good deeds (by obeying Allah), then verily, Allah will pardon him (accept his REPENTANCE). Verily, Allah is Oft¬Forgiving, Most Merciful. Surah Maida"39
Say, "O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah . Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful." Surah Zumar
Shaitan (satan) is trying to distract you from becoming good,he is putting you in so much guilt that you forget about Allah's mercy. Please be continued to put your efforts into staying on the right path.
You should start your life again by throwing away the negative thoughts and starting afresh with a pure new life,take this as a gift from Allah that you got a chance to repent before death comes upon you
You are human and you made a mistake. It is unfortunate that the girls you were with were also very low in deen and they too are to blame for the things that happened between you all. She violated you and God just as much as you violated her and God. Ask for forgiveness and never do this again and Allah will forgive you and it will be like you have never done it. But ONLY if you never do this again. It is good that you realized your mistake. Ask for forgiveness with a true heart.
