Marriage not registered in Shariah, is it valid?
Assalamu Alaykum!
My husband is in UAE and got married to converted muslim girl without my knowledge. The said marriage is not registered in shariah court in UAE. The marriage was publicly done in UAE (not in mosque) but their parents did not know about their marriage because they are in Philippines. One of their friends stood as the girl's wali.
May I know if their marriage is valid?

Haifa, As-salamu alaykum. I can't say for sure whether the marriage is valid or not since I feel I don't know all the details; also, we're not here to give fatwas but just to provide advice.
With that said, however, I can't see any obvious reason why the marriage would not be valid.
I think the validity of the marriage is not the primary issue. Even if I or someone else says the marriage is not valid, your husband is not going to divorce the woman, is he?
The issue is that your husband married someone else without your knowledge. You feel betrayed and abandoned, and rightly so. What your husband did was inconsiderate, unkind and dishonest.
The real question is, what will you do about it? You have two options: to divorce him, or to accept the situation and seek some sort of accommodation with your husband in which your marriage continues. I cannot tell you which of these avenues to pursue. Pray to Allah and ask for guidance in this matter, and make dua' for a good resolution.
