Wazifa/dua for convincing parents to let me attend the university I like

Muslim school girls at university

Assalamualaikum wa Rahmatullah wa barkatuhu.

Ive just passed my 12th grade with flying colours, Alhamdulillah. All thanks to Allah swt. I live in an Islamic city, and there are no good universities for the subjects I want to pursue for graduation.

There is a university in another city in this country which is owned by Muslims and is a good University as heard so far. But since the condition in our country related to Islamophobia is increasing day by day, my parents refuse to send me out of the city to pursue my dream.

I would like to know if there's any dua or wazifa to convince Allah swt and my parents to let me go for a good cause..

It would be a great help if you reply.. Jazakallah

  1. Salatul istiqara i.e prayer of guidance is your solution so go and learn it

    • My Dear

Congradulation on your bright year12 grade results. As advised by brother Muktar, do salary istekqarah and continue with your effort to persue your carrier. Understand your parents concern too. IsteqaraH & doas will help you decide what’s right for you. We make plans according to our desire and we think it’s right for ourselves. Allah know what we do not know. InshaAllah your parents will come round & agree with you decision of you going to university.Pray with firm belief and accept whatever is outcome as Allah’s WILL ,without blaming parents.

I wish you all the best, May Allah makes grant you what beneficial for you & it easy for your family to accept.

  2. Asalamualaykum Muslimgirl!

MashaAllah...Congratulations on your graduation from high school with good marks! I am sure you have already made your parents very pleased and proud, even if they haven't expressed it.

As others have advised, the Salat Al-Istikhara, the prayer for guidance, will guide you without fail. You can find details of this prayer and the accompanying Dua in the blue menu atop this page. You would basically be asking Allah to lead you towards the better of the options. And Allah's lead is the most valuable.

I am interested in one thing you say though...that you live in an Islamic city but that there is Islamophobia? Are you talking about Islamophobia from outsiders in outlying countries or within your own? I have never heard of the latter.

I want to briefly share my experience with you, in case you can derive any comfort from it. When I was applying to colleges and universities, I didn't know about Salat Al-Istikhara, so I listened to my father's advice. I was accepted into not the most prestigious college, but one that is maybe one step down from that, a liberal arts college. However, my father wanted me to attend a cheaper school, because I would be paying my own way through college, and because well, he is "cheap" in everything he does. I was very torn but I ultimately listened to and obeyed my father. Allah has given us the parents we are given for a reason, and aside from Allah and the prophet (pbuh), their advice should be highly esteemed and sought-after, even if they are not perfect themselves. They are a resource for us.

When I was at University, I met a girl from the other side of the world. She was studying to be a Chinese language teacher. She needed a lot of help with her papers and her English, so I helped her. Ultimately, when she moved to another state, she offered me her condominium to rent, even though many other people were on her "waiting list" because the place was such a good deal. I accepted and I loved the unit and the neighborhood so much, that I have now decided that when I purchase a home, I would like to purchase in that very neighborhood. And due to an illness I have, it is very hard for me to make important decisions using my brain, so I make them from my heart. And my heart is tied, in part (aside from to Allah of course) to that neighborhood!

So even though I did not get the "education" that I would have had had I studied at the other college, I am very satisfied with my decision, knowing how things turned out. I encourage you to also see the seeds of wisdom in what your parents are recommending. Ultimately follow your own dream, but give them a chance...you may "change" your dream!

    Best 🙂

    • Nor, my guess is that the sister lives in India. There are majority Muslim cities in India, but the country as a whole is majority Hindu, and there is a wave of strong Hindu nationalism and anti-Muslim sentiment there currently.

You say your parents are concerned about your safety, but you still want to convince Allah swt and your parents to let you go to University away from home. Do your parents let you go out shopping by yourself in your own city?
