Christian Filipina to marry a Muslim Saudi man

quran bible islam christianity

I met my Saudi boyfriend about a year ago in Saudi Arabia where I used to work as a nurse. I am 27 and he is only 25. We both believe that conversion is not necessary. Can we still get married even if i don't convert?

A Muslim man is permitted to marry a woman if she is a practising Muslim, Christian or Jew. So, the short answer is that you can get married without converting. Interfaith marriages can involve additional challenges, so it's important to have an honest discussion about what both of you would want with regards key issues. For example, a Muslim man is expected to ensure his children are raised as Muslims - you'd need to understand what level of religious education he would want for any children you have together, and be comfortable with this. If you haven't already, I'd suggest that you read some reputable articles and books about Islam, and if possible speak with some practising Muslimahs, to find out more about Islam and life in a Muslim family.
