Istikhara Interpretation – Saw Jannah

English Translation of the Dua for Istikhaarah

Dua for Istikhaarah

Alsalamu Alaikum, I am hoping someone learned, knowledgeable or a Sheikh can help me with my Istikhara answer. I tried searching the Internet to find a sheikh that answers. If you know of someone, could you please post below?

I have been asking Allah for signs on if I will finally be married to the man that I love. There is no relationship, nothing, we're not even really talking anymore right now. He lives in a neighboring country. Anyway, I have received what I think is an answer to my last istikhara. I had a dream that came the night I asked Allah in prayer if He will make things progress with us for marriage.

DREAM:

I dreamed that I was outside, amongst grass or meadow, a very beautiful setting. I may have been lying on my back in the dream, just resting, but it was sprinkled with sunshine. This sun was then somehow overtaken by flashes of white lights - like glowing stars, but not really. More like soft fireworks opening up. Pure white and maybe a touch of iridescence I remember. Very beautiful. One small one came from the right, then another larger one came from the left, then one very large growing mass of white like came towards me directly, head-on.

I imagined the presence of angels (the Angel of Death to be exact) and I really did think I was about to die. I felt clear in my head - and knew what I was thinking. I was stumbling to find the words "La Illaha Ilaa Allah" so that I make sure they are my last word. I then said "I don't want to go yet." Then I noticed a small, tight wave of a long tunnel to my right. It was a proper wave like you see in the surfer shots of the wave tunnel, but it was smaller and at the end I could see a pretty vacation scene with greenery and places to lounge and sit. I imagined families there for some reason, and that it was a relief, a true vacation - the best of vacations one could image to be exact! I just knew it was somewhere amazing and fun.

I was at ease seeing it but was trying to remember if I was "good enough" to die yet. I realize now, of course not, I have more to accomplish and much more distance to travel closer to God. But then, I heard a voice that wasn't particularly male or female, or I just can't remember say the words "Jannat al Firdous". Very calmly, very matter-of-factly.

I believe this was the answer to my Istikhara and I am not sure what to do next. I chatted with the guy and asked that he call me just before this Istikhara, on the next day. But he hasn't yet called and it's already been 3 days, I don't expect he will.

  1. Wa Alaikum as Salam wa Rahmatullah,

Ma sha Allah, sister; you have indeed seen a beautiful dream. May Allah accept you, me and other sincere servants to be admitted into al Jannatal Firdaus. It is indeed a great abode that can't be imagined, something no ear has heard and no eye has seen.

Dreams are strange things that Allah Created for His servants, where the souls travel to places and meet people. This dream of yours is beautiful, but it does not seem to relate to marrying this man, and Allah Knows Best.

I am not qualified to interpret dreams, but can look for the signs you have mentioned, in Shaikh Muhammad al Jibaly's book on dreams. Death in a dream may mean fear, rest or travel, or even reversal of status from difficulty to ease and vice versa. Entering Jannah means glad tiding of truly entering it as a reward, receiving its pleasures means attaining goodness and pleasure in both the lives.

The vacation scene you saw, I am supposing it was a wide garden. A wide garden means Jannah, study circles (studying the Quran and the Sunnah of Rasoolullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) and the deen of Islam. The sun denotes a king, a person of authority or a parent. The presence of angels may mean blessing, honor, fertility or victory and an angel hitting you may mean punishment, stars falling from the sky also mean punishment; then stumbling to say the kalimah, Allah Knows Best, mean a warning to return to Allah and stop sinning.

I don't intend to interpret your dream, but just wanted to let you know what it may mean. Allah Created us to worship Him and Gave us the Quran and the Sunnah of His Rasool Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam to follow as guides to reach Him.

When you go to a new city, a GPS app on your phone or a guide helps you go to places, doesn't it? In the same way or in an even better way, the Quran and the Sunnah help us reach Allah, His Jannah.

A person may do the deeds of a person of Jannah for the entire life, but may at the end of his life do a deed of the people of Hell and be a dweller of the Fire. Or a person may do the deeds of the people of Hell for all his life and may do a deed of the people of the Jannah at the end of his life, making himself a dweller of the Jannah forever and ever.

I advise you to get closer to Allah by reading the Quran, seeking knowledge of Islam, learning and following the Sunnah (ahaadeeth) and practicing Islam in totality, to the extent you are able to. This will in sha Allah ensure Allah Becomes Pleased with you if He Wills and you will enter Jannah.

As far as marrying that man is concerned, don't wait for him to call, nor have any contact with him. If he has good deen and he follows the Quran and Sunnah, hint to your parents that you like him and want to marry him. Alternatively, he has to approach your father to discuss this. If he is not good in deen, then let him go, Allah Will Provide you a better man by His Will.

This Ramadan, in the last ten nights, do excessive du'a for Forgiveness and Guidance from Allah; ask Allah for a righteous man who would help you reach Jannah, who would help you in your Eemaan. Along with this, remember me in your du'as as well.
