Not Allowed to Wear a Hijab

scarf headscarf

I recently converted to Islam but I live in a household with my mother and step father who are both islamophobic. I cannot tell them about my choice of becoming a Muslim and I also cannot wear a hjiab. I want to but I am too afraid to tell them because there will be serious consequences if they find out. Is it bad if I continue practicing Islam without wearing a hijab?

First let me congratulate you, from my heart, for having received the Mercy of Allaah (swt) to open your heart to the True Faith! Now the hijab is meant to be a protection for the sisters but, in your case, it would obviously do the Opposite, so yes I'm confident Allaah (swt) has no objections, as He wants for us Ease and not burdens.
Hiding your Islaam is also permissible, if revealing it would put you in serious trouble. So, for instance, the sister of 'Umar Ibn al Khattab (RA) was hiding from him (before he embraced Islaam) that she had become a Muslim, because she feared his violent reaction, and for good reason. May Allaah Bless you and Protect you!
